¡Hola mundo! Welcome to my corner of the internet.
Like any good developer’s first blog post, I have to start with the classic “Hello World!” – though I figured I’d add a little Spanish flair since that’s one of the many things keeping me busy these days.
I’m Jesse, and this is my attempt to document the journey of building something meaningful while juggling more learning projects than probably makes sense. But hey, that’s what makes life interesting, right?

What’s Keeping Me Busy
Growing A Business
The biggest focus of my time right now is growing my business, Higher Logic. With the help of my co-founder we continue to push the boundaries and bring new technologies (lately this has been implementing AI into software solutions) to the toolsets, and software built for our clients.
Expanding My Language Skills (Both Human and Computer)
With my wifes love and desire to make it to Barcelona someday. I’ve taken up the task of learning Spanish. Learning a new language as an adult is muy difícil but incredibly rewarding. There’s something about the mental gymnastics of switching between languages that keeps my brain sharp – plus, it’s opening up whole new worlds of culture and connection.
On the programming side, I’ve been exploring Rust. The borrow checker is simultaneously my best friend and worst enemy. Coming from primarily a web development background with a focus more on interpreted languages, working with a language like Rust has been a whole new challenge thats turned into making programming interesting again.
Mobile Development Deep Dive
I’m also continuing to improve on my mobile app development skillsets (Something I’ve been focusing on over the last year), working with both Flutter and Swift/SwiftUI. Flutter’s cross-platform capabilities are impressive, but there’s something satisfying about crafting native iOS experiences with SwiftUI. My goal is to create a relatively successful mobile app and launch it successfully by the end of the year. (We’ll see if this is realistic in time — side projects often tend to be impossible to find time to bring to fruition.)
AWS Developer Certification Journey
To stay competitive and demonstrate the skills I’ve already been bringing to the table without, I’m working towards several AWS Certifications. AWS has continued to be a tool and platform utilized by clients with expanding needs, and in an effort to be able to provide for clients, learning what it has to offer and how to optimize on the platform has been a must.
What You Can Expect Here
This blog is going to be my digital notebook – a place to share lessons learned, challenges overcome, and probably a few spectacular failures along the way. I’ll be writing about:
- Technical deep dives: From Rust’s ownership model to Flutter’s widget tree, I’ll share what I’m learning in the trenches
- Language learning: Both programming languages and human ones – turns out they have more in common than you’d think
- Mobile development: Native iOS development with SwiftUI and cross-platform adventures with Flutter
- Cloud computing: AWS insights as I work toward certification and beyond and challenges I tackle for clients
Let’s Connect
Building in public can be lonely, so I’d love to hear from you. Whether you’re on a similar journey, have questions about anything I’m working on, or just want to say “¡Hola!”, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Here’s to new beginnings, continuous learning, and the occasional moment of “¿Qué estoy haciendo?” (What am I doing?) – because let’s be honest, we’ve all been there.
¡Vamos! Let’s build something amazing together.
